Two Steps Back: A Traveling Art Show
Two Steps Back is a group art show of over 200 two-dimensional artworks by 80 artists from all over the world.
Two Steps Back's collective organizing method draws upon the D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) culture. By traveling to cities all over the world, the show has become a networking device that has connected different scenes and people previously unaware of each others work.

In each city or town that the show is exhibited, local hosts select space and events which compliment the traveling exhibition. Two Steps Back originated in 2002 as an artist's collective show 8.5x11 entirely in black and white. Contributors were asked to produce one-off art on 8.5x11 paper without using computers. The collective was formed both to mobilise and promote the efforts of a creative syndicate of painters, illustrators and designers, all working in close proximity to one another and sharing similar sensibilities and aesthetics. |
