Fonk for Thoughts: Victor & Jim
Two Dutch promising creatives hit the news with their title Advertising Talent 2005: Victor & Jim. Besides working on advertising at their own agency Habbekrats Reclame, they also shoot musicvideos. What is fonking their thoughts?

Victor & Jim: "If it bleeds, we can kill it."

BlogFonk: Who are Victor & Jim? Where are you from?
Victor & Jim: Two friends with an average age of 24, raised in the backlots of Holland who are since a year and a half living in Amsterdam and making all kinds of stuff.

BlogFonk: Do you love your work? Why (not)?
Victor & Jim: Yes, we truly, deeply, madly love our work. We love it so much it's not even work any more. We started as students who wanted to have their own independent agency and some time ago we realised we created more then a full time job for ourselves without even noticing it.

BlogFonk: What is Habbekrats Reclame all about?
Victor & Jim: In Dutch we call it 'knallen'. That's hard to translate, but it comes close to what Charles Bronson did in his action movies. Shoot some rounds. Mis a few. Hit a lot.

BlogFonk: How does it feel to be "Advertising Talents of the Year?"
Victor & Jim: We now can relate to what Lloyd Banks meant when he called his debut album "The Hunger for More".

BlogFonk: Is there difference in mentality of creatives in the countries you've worked?
Victor & Jim: We're born and raised in Holland, so we couldn't tell. Only thing we can say is that there's a lot of stuff coming from other countries at which we're jealous.

BlogFonk: What are the latest important developments you've noticed in your work?
Victor & Jim: Our clients are getting bigger bit by bit. We started by doing small things for small clients, recently we now and then do small things for larger clients. That's a trend we like very much.

BlogFonk: Which project are you most proud of?
Victor & Jim: As a project we're kind of proud at the Wie Is Ut? musicvideo we did for the Rotterdam based Hiphopgroup Duvelduvel. For this banger we made a unauthorized musicvideo which first became a hit on the internet, then a very succesfull video on the musicchannels and then got picked up to be part of a documentary about Hiphop in Holland which will be in the cinemas in 2006. It's not our best video, but Duvelduvel got more famous by it and sold more albums without losing its underground credibility. It became everything we didn't dare to hope when we were making it, that's kind of cool. And we're actually quite proud of what we've created for ourselves.

BlogFonk: If you'd be given the chance to do something over again, what would that be?
Victor: High School. Jim: The summer of '69.

BlogFonk: Finally, what is your motto, your "Fonk for Thoughts" (inspiration to be creative)?
Victor & Jim: If it bleeds, we can kill it.
